Vietnam’s first organic dairy farm inaugurated in Central Highlands

Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) yesterday inaugurated the country’s first organic dairy farm in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong at the ceremony attended by secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Truong Thi Mai and secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Dinh La Thang.

Vinamilk Organic Da Lat farm has the total investment capital of VND200 billion (US$8.85 million) with the initial scope of 500 organic cows, meeting European standards according to certification by Dutch Control Union.

All the cows are fed 100 percent organic food. The farm must abide by three strict standards ensuring no use of bovine growth hormone, no pesticides, no antibiotic residue in milk.

At the ceremony, Vinamilk director general Mai Kieu Lien said that the farm’s inauguration not only contributed in stabilizing domestic material supply but also created faith and a foothold for Vietnamese milk brand names to develop in the world.
