After getting a trade surplus of US$500 million in October, Vietnam returned to trade deficit with US$270 million in the first half of November taking the total number to nearly US$3.86 billion since early this year.
Preliminary statistics by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam show that total export turnover topped US$6.49 billion in the first half of November, increasing the total turnover to US$140.87 billion since early this year.
Import turnover neared US$6.77 billion, taking the total to US$144.73 billion.
Hence, Vietnam posted a trade deficit of US$270 million in the first half of November and US$3.86 billion this year.
Foreign direct investment companies yielded an export turnover of US$4.54 billion hitting US$96.27 billion this year. Their import turnover exceeded US$4.01 billion and US$85.56 billion.
This brought them a trade surplus of US$520 million in the first half of November and US$10.71 billion since early this year.
