Supplying Dong Thap’s products to HCMC

A number of contracts and memorandums of understanding on bringing typical products of the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap into HCM City’s market has been signed between businesses of the two localities during the 3-day exhibition presenting cultural characteristics of Dong Thap held at The Garden Mall in Ho Chi Minh City’s district 5 from April 27-29.

Through the event, the Dong Thap authority expects hundreds of Dong Thap cultural and agricultural products and among others will be sold at wholesale markets, shops and supermarkets in HCMC in coming time.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Trade and Industry of Dong Thap province Vo Phuong Thuy, fruit growing is the strong point of Dong Thap. Its current output of mango is around 93,000 tonnes per year, accounting for 18 percent of the total cultivated land area. Production of lotus and sweet potato are respectively 4,626 tons and 70,000 tons per year. These products have been exporting to South Korea, New Zealand, Australia and Japan. 
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Trade and Industry Nguyen Huynh Trang noted enterprises to pay attention to the standard of products and their global quality certificates, such as VietGAP and GlobalGAP to ensure food safety and make it easier for suppliers by providing the retailers or supermarkets.
The exhibition promoting and introducing typical products, traditional craft villages, images of the land and people of Dong Thap as well as enhancing the development of the provincial tourism industry was be held at The Garden Mall in Ho Chi Minh City’s district 5 from April 27-29.
Visitors had a chance to enjoy a corner of countryside market, various kinds of flowers of Sa Dec traditional flower villages, products made of lotus and rice, the provincial popular agricultural products, local special dishes, art performance and trade promotional exchange during the event.
