Sugar refineries in Ayun Pa and An Khe Districts in Gia Lai Province and some other sugar plants in Kon Tum and Binh Dinh Provinces have begun processing the new crop in the first week of November.

In the eastern and southeastern regions of Gia Lai Province, nearly 30,000 hectares of sugarcane was ready for harvest.

Currently, Binh Dinh Sugar Joint Stock Company announced that it will buy 10-ccs-sugarcane at VND850,000 per ton, not including transport fee; Kon Tum Sugar Joint Stock Company will buy at VND1.1 million per ton, including transport fee; and An Khe Sugar Plant will buy sugarcane at VND900,000 per ton at field.

The current price level shows that the price of sugarcane in the 2013-2014 crop is lower by VND50,000-100,000 per ton compared to the previous crop as current retail price of sugar is VND1,000-2,000 per kilo lower than it was in 2012.
