VN-Index declines fourth day

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index extended its losing run to fourth trading session on June 13 as investors became more cautious.

Shares of 303 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange dipped 0.13 percent, or 0.55 points, to close at 427.61 points with 96 stocks rising, 143 declining, and 69 remaining unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse rose by 47 percent in volume, and 72 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 84.08 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.44 trillion.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) stayed at the position of most active share in volume for three straight trading sessions with 4.7 million shares changing hands.

Tan Tao Investment Industrial Joint Stock Company (ITA) followed with 3.36 million shares.

Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) finished third with 1.73 million shares traded.

Vietnam House Joint Stock Company (NVN) collapsed 19.1 percent to close at VND7,200. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 14 per cent on June 29. According to its consolidated financial statement in first quarter of 2012, NVN achieved net revenue of VND18.3 billion, up 47 percent over the same period last year. However, net profit was at VND859 million, a decrease of 36 percent compared to same period last year.

Ba Ria Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (BTP) fell 10.61 percent to close at VND5,900. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 7 percent on July 2.

National Seed Joint Stock Company (NSC) went down 4.93 percent to close at VND38,600.

Sao Ta Foods Joint Stock Company (FMC), Chang Yih Ceramic Joint Stock Company (CYC), and Vinafco Joint Stock Corporation (VFC) gained 5 percent to close at VND14,700, VND2,100, and VND8,400 respectively.

Alphanam Joint Stock Company (ALP) restored 4.94 percent to close at VND8,500.

An Giang Fisheries Import Export Joint Stock Company (AGF) mounted 4.9 percent to close at VND30,000.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – shed 2.3 points, or 0.45 percent, to end at 504.19. Among its 30 members, 7 stocks grew, 14 dropped, and 9 were unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north revived 0.21 percent, or 0.16 points, to close at 74.76 points with 116 winners, 96 losers, and 80 stocks treading water. Around 37.63 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND393.19 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares was unchanged at 36.33 points from the previous day. A total of 254,075 shares changed hands at VND1.11 billion.
