The airline received its license this May as Speed Up. The company chose to change this because a tonal variation of its Vietnamese translation had negative meanings.

The airline will initially use Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft on the domestic routes. It will fly the HCMC-Ha Noi route four times a day, and the HCMC – Danang route twice day.

The airline will offer business class and economy class tickets, and provide food and beverages, magazines, blankets and cushions free-of-charge to passengers.

It will have three categories of fares for its tickets. The Fly Lux tickets are refundable and permits change in flight dates or time free of charge; the Eco tickets that offer savings of up to 50 percent of the normal fare, permits change in flight dates or time for extra charges; and the last one, Fly Wis, offers savings of up to 30 percent of the normal fare to groups.

The airlines’ General Manager Ha Dung had proposed to buy the brand name Viet Airway from the Jetstar Pacific Airlines Joint Stock Aviation Company, but the negotiations were not successful. Jetstar Pacific has reportedly decided to use the name to set up another airline on its own.
