To obtain the target, urgent tasks are to issue the implementation guidance of the Seafood Law, which the National Assembly has recently passed, and assist residents in the central region to overcome difficulties resulted from the marine environment pollution caused by Taiwanese steel plant Formosa in Ha Tinh province.
Exploitation will not run after output and be well controlled, output might reduce but value must increase. Products’ origin tracking must be able and more transparent than now to meet requirements on fighting illegal fishing.
According to deputy minister Vu Van Tam, the seafood industry saw the highest ever export turnover last year with $8.3 billion, up nearly $1 billion over 2016. Production value and output increase contributed to the seafood industry’s highest ranking in export sectors of the agricultural field for the last years.
