Over 85,000 new businesses set up in eight months

According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, 85,357 new businesses were established in the first eight months this year with the total registered capital of VND822 trillion (US$36.17 billion).

That was a year on year increase of 16 percent in the number of businesses and 45 percent in registered capital.
If counting VND1,108 trillion ($48.76 billion) from 24,700 companies who increased investment capital, total capital supplemented to the economy reached VND1,930 trillion during the eight months.
In addition, over 19,100 businesses have resumed operation, up 2.4 percent compared to the same period last year. The number of workers registered by newly established companies were 822,000, down 4.1 percent over the same period last year.
The number of businesses from wholesale and retail fields account for 36 percent, construction firms 13 percent, processing and manufacturing companies 13 percent, those from other fields such as science and technology, consulting, design and advertising 7.5 percent.
