Ministry holds press briefing of Vietstock 2018
The event jointly co-organized by the Department and UBM Asia, the largest trade show organizer in Asia, is expected to take place from October 17 to October 19 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center.
Speaking at the conference, head of the Department Nguyen Xuan Duong said that the aim of the expo is to increase the husbandry and fisheries sector’s processing capacity and expand markets with the export orientation for the future.
2018 is considered as the year of paving the way for poultry and food exports because a company in Vietnam was allowed to export chicken meat to Japan for the very first time and frozen meat to Myanmar.
With the current growth in husbandry, Mr. Duong believed that the country can increase export sales to potential markets to earn more for agriculture export which has been mainly dependent on rice, coffee, pepper, fisheries and forestry.
Mr. Duong said that the sector’s weakness is ability to process and expand its market to reduce the abundant meat; accordingly, the sector needs to adopt advanced technologies. He hoped that through the event, local enterprises can access and liaise with the world best companies.
Around 350 stands for many leading domestic and foreign groups and companies registered to take part in the event. It is expected to attract 12,000 visitors to the expo.
