Attending at the event were former State President Truong Tan Sang, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio, Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and more than 600 representatives of State agencies and businesses of the two countries.
Former State President Truong Tan Sang highlighted Vietnam-Japan cooperation. He hoped the meeting will strengthen the effectiveness of development cooperation in infrastructure construction, agricultural production and climate change adaptation.
Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the investment cooperation in various areas, especially the cooperation between localities of the two nations.
Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio expected the conference will tighten collaboration between the two sides. Japan will continue to be Vietnam’s top and long-time partner.
Participants discuss current issues in traffic infrastructure, health care, climate change, cooperation in agricultural production, cultural-tourism – education exchange.
On this occasion, the meeting saw many memoranda of understanding on cooperation being inked between Mekong Delta provinces, Vietnamese businesses and Japanese partners.
After the conference, participants will join a sightseeing tour on April 20 to visit popular tourist attractions, such as Cai Rang floating market, Truc Lam Zen Monastery, Vam Xang Tourist Area and take part in charitable activities at hospitals and schools in Can Tho City.
