Lao Goods Week opens in HCMC

The ceremony to advertise Lao goods named Laos' commodities Week, co-organized by Laos’ Consulate General in HCMC and HCMC People’s Committee, was officially opened at Le Van Tam park, District 1 last night.

Lao ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane, chairwoman of HCMC People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam and other leaders from Laos took part in the ceremony.
Stating at the conference, the ambassador said that Lao Goods Week, taking place from January 24-28, is a large scale trade promotion program hosted in Vietnam for the first time to advertise Lao traditional products and specialties.
Over 100 stalls of Lao firms and Vietnamese firms in Laos have been showcasing 126 tons of goods including dried fruits, coffee, rice, wooden products.
Within the framework of the week, Laos’ Consulate General in HCMC and Savan Seno Special Economic Zone Management Board will organize a seminar to promote trade and investment in the economic zone, Savannakhet province; another workshop on solutions to boost trades between HCMC and Lao localities and a trade connectivity program between HCMC and Lao businesses.
