The index increase was attributed to petrol price hike, consumers’ concerns about fish death in the central region and long-lasting heat wave.

Ten out of 11 groups of commodities and services saw the index up. The highest increase was in traffic with 2.99 percent, housing and construction materials 0.55 percent and catering service 0.21 percent.

Only post and telecommunication saw a reduction of 0.06 percent.

Core inflation in June went up 0.13 percent against May and 1.8 percent in the first six months this year compared to the same period last year. This shows that even monetary policy has contributed to macroeconomic stabilization, the office said.
