Industrial production maintains fairly good growth

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, since the beginning of this year, industrial production of the whole country posted fairly good growth with the index of industrial production increasing by 9.4 percent in comparison with the same period last year.

Of which, processing and manufacturing industry recorded a growth of 10.7 percent, followed by power generation and distribution with a growth of 10 percent. Water supply, waste and wastewater treatment also maintained an increase of 7.6 percent. Mining industry rose 1.1 percent. 

Products which saw strong growth in the index of production were mainly raw steel and iron with an increase of 57.1 percent. As for coke coal and refined petroleum products, production growth fluctuated from 40.6 percent to 48 percent. Metal products, rubber and plastic products, wood processing and products made from wood and bamboo, excluding beds, cabinets, tables and chairs, engine-driven vehicles and textile posted growth from 11 percent to 17 percent.

Meanwhile, high-tech products, such as electronic products, computers and optical products, medicines, pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmaceuticals production, crude oil and natural gas exploitation and other transport vehicles manufacturing experienced a decline compared to the same period last year. Of which, some products plummeted drastically, such as NPK complex fertilizer dropped 3.3 percent, crude oil exploitation declined 6.9 percent, motorbikes slid 8.7 percent, cell phone components sank 15.1 percent and refined sugar fell 16.9 percent.
