‘Ho Chi Minh City Expo 2012’ kicks off in Cambodia

Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia; Nguyen Thi Hong, deputy chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Thanh Bien, Vietnam’s deputy minister of Industry and Trade; along with many high-ranking officials in Cambodia, attended the opening ceremony of the Expo.

Speaking at the ceremony, deputy chairwoman Hong said that ‘Ho Chi Minh City Expo 2012’ is a key trade event targeted for the Cambodian market for the period 2010-15.

The Expo aims to create opportunities for businesses to interact and explore possibilities of joint partnerships.

The five-day ‘Ho Chi Minh City Expo 2012’ is being organised by the HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Centre with support from the   Ministry of Industry and Trade, the People’s Committee of HCMC and the Ministry of Commerce in Cambodia.

More than 150 Vietnamese companies have displayed their products in 250 booths.

Vietnamese traders have displayed products like processed foods, plastic goods, agricultural products, furniture, electrical appliances and construction materials.
 
Apart from the product display stalls, the event will exhibit and highlight the economic, political and social achievements of Vietnam and Cambodia and the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Centre will also organise market surveys for the financial, real estate, construction and retail sectors for Vietnamese businesses seeking to understand the Cambodian market.

The Expo will be on till April 1.
