Hau Giang province revokes $30 million thermal power project

The People’s Committee in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang has signed a decision to revoke the investment policy of Hau Giang thermal power plant.

The project was expected to break ground in December 2013 over nine hectares with the total investment capital of US$30 million, financed by Eximbank Malaysia and Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam.
At the end September 2013, three contracts were signed in preparation for the plant’s construction including a contract with Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor, a joint venture contract between Malaysian firm C.H.E and Hau Giang Power Plant Company and a supervision consultant contract between Hau Giang Power Plant Company and Power Engineering Consultancy Company 2.
According to plan, the project’s equipment will be supplemented by Britian Torftech Company and Germany ERK EckRohrkessel GmbH through main contractor of the project C.H.E Company. Hau Giang Power Plant Company has also signed operation and maintenance contracts with C.H.E Group’s newly setup holding company Sdn Bhd.
However, the project has not been implemented after many times of extensions so Hạu Giang People’s Committee decided to revoke it.
