Vietnamese Government should refer to nations in the Southeast Asia to value MobiFone, the second largest mobile network operator in the country which is under equitization process.

The recommendation was issued by Standard Chartered Bank at a meeting with the Ministry of Information and Communications to share experiences for MobiFone equitization in Hanoi yesterday.

According to the bank, MobiFone’s market is very potential but the company’s profit has moved in a horizontal direction.

Equitization will bring a fresh air for the company. Strategic investors will share experiences and propose new strategies for MobiFone to develop, the bank said.

The equitization process will be most feasible with only one strategic investor, it added.

With the population of over 90 million, Vietnam has 130 million mobile subscribers, said Mr. Phan Thao Nguyen, head of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
