Five month exports to U.S. hit $14.6 billion

Vietnam’s total export import turnover to the U.S. reached US$17.8 billion in the first five months this year, of these export value hit $14.6 billion, according to data announced at a seminar hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in HCMC yesterday.

The export import turnover was US$41.5 billion with US$33.5 billion being from export activities last year.

By the end of May this year, the U.S. has 809 projects in Vietnam with the total registered capital of US$10.8 billion, ranked 8th among over 100 nations and territories investing in Vietnam.

American businesses invested in 54 projects with total registered capital of US$217 million in 2015 alone.

American visitors to Vietnam hit 491,000, up 10.7 percent over 2014. The number reached 245,000 visitors in the first five months this year.
