Since the beginning of this year, the country has drawn 291 FDI projects with total capital of US$ 1.9 billion, an increase of 96.6 percent in volume and 167.5 percent in value over previous last year.
And 137 FDI projects have been adjusted capital of US$ 898.3 million.
Of these, total newly licensed projects & added capital reached US$ 2.8billion, a 135 percent rise compared to the same period last year. Total FDI capital in the first two months of this year saw US$ 1.5 billion, up 15.4 percent over previous year.
The Ministry of Planning & Investment said FDI projects in first two months of 2016 focused on the processing industry sector with registered capital of US$ 2billion, accounting for 71.2 percent. Art, entertainment and service sector reached US$ 210.6million, of 7.5 percent and other sectors were US$ 597.8 million of 21.3 percent.
Among 32 localities, Hanoi led the country in attracting FDI with US$ 242.4million, accounting for 12.7 percent; followed by Bac Giang with US$ 206.1 million, Bac Ninh with US$ 200.6million respectively while HCMC dropped to the fifth position with US$ 155.9million accounting for 8.2 percent.
