Turnover of machinery, equipment exports go up

The Department of Customs statistics reveals exports of machinery and equipment increased dramatically in January 2014.

Turnover of machinery and equipment products reached more than US$529 million, an increase of 15.61 percent compared to same period last year.

Japan is the biggest importer with turnover of US$112 million, an increase of 4.54 percent compared to the same period last year.

The US is Vietnam’s second largest market with US$99 million, up by 40.32 percent against the same period last year.

Hong Kong (China) followed next with US$31.21 million, 30.9 percent higher than in the same period last year.

Moreover, machinery and equipment exports to China soared tenfold compared to same period last year, accounting for 5.8 percent of the total turnover in January 2014.

Export turnover of machinery and equipment to Korea, Netherland, German, Malaysia also saw a jump of 33.21 percent, 97 percent, 53.26 percent and 97 percent respectively.
