Prices of cement have risen up recently due to the petrol hike

An official report said that the petrol hike may have a direct impact on the prices of essential commodities. The price of coal is up by 2.93 percent while cement is up 2.24 percent and steel is up by 0.61 percent, electricity is up 0.8, seaborne transport is up 6.5-7 percent, and rail transport is up 4-5 percent. Two other factors are a recent increase of epidemic diseases and bad weather forecasted.

Since the beginning of this July, ministers, provincial and municipal authorities have tried their best to stabilize cost of essential commodities and subdue inflation. The prices of some food items have decreased slightly.

However, after an increase of 12.5-31 percent in petrol prices on July 21, the transport fares have started to rise.
