Production association modes such as large-scale paddy fields and breeding farms bring about an average income of VND80-120 million (US$3,800-5,700) per hectare, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
These production modes are concentrated Can Tho City and An Giang, Dong Thap, Bac Lieu and Kien Giang provinces.
The Mekong Delta now has about 2,000 farms, 1,115 cooperatives with 11,000 members, and 5,000 production groups with nearly 600,000 members.
Nearly 100 of the production groups are producing rice in GlobalGAP standard.
