The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) last night rejected the recently-spread information on social network that the bank is going to change the currency of Vietnam, saying that it has been fabricated for bad intention.

Rumor spreaders have incited citizens to withdraw deposits in Vietnamese dong to buy gold and foreign currencies.

SBV warned citizens against wrong and made-up stories to prevent them from causing economic damage and affecting national monetary security.

Some countries have changed their currency nominal value but the change does not affect and relate to the stabilization of the Vietnamese dong, the bank affirmed.
