Agro-forestry, fishery exports top US$20 billion

The export of agro-forestry and fishery products grossed US$2.76 billion in August only, bringing the total turnover of export in eight months to US$20.6 billion, a rise of 5.6 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s latest figure.

The Ministry yesterday updated the export of agro, forestry, and fishery in eight months. As per the Ministry’s latest figure, of US$20.6 billion, turnover of agricultural produces reached US$9.9 billion, an increase of 5.7 percent compared to the same period last year while fishery products contributed US$4.3 billion to the revenue of the country’s total produce exports, or 4.1 percent higher than the same period last year and major forestry products reached US$4.54 billion, dipping 0.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
