Agro fishery forestry exports far exceed five year plan

Despite of experiencing severe weather and import reduction, the export turnover of agricultural, fishery and forestry products still hit US$30.13 billion this year, far exceeding US$21 billion target in the last five year plan, said Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Cao Duc Phat.

Minister Cao Duc Phat said that El Nino phenomenon is forecast to continue affecting Vietnam until mid 2016. However, the more concern is that afterwards La Nina will occur regularly with extreme weather conditions such as flooding and heavy downpours.

The agricultural industry has instructed local authorities to accumulate waters and improve irrigation system to cope with possible droughts and flooding.
