Agro, fishery, forestry export turnover slides

Agro, fishery and forestry export turnover decreased by 2.8 percent over the same period last year, reaching only US$14.42 billion in the first half this year, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development yesterday.

The turnover was estimated to reach US$2.6 billion in June alone.

In the six months, farm produce exports brought US$6.93 billion, down 7.4 percent. The most reduction was recorded in rice and coffee.

Of these, rice export was reported down 6.2 percent in volume and 10.5 percent in value.

Coffee business dropped by 35.8 percent in volume and 35.1 percent in value.

Forestry products sustained stable growth rate. Timber and wooden products saw export value up 8 percent.

The U.S., Japan and China were three largest import markets of Vietnam in the first five months this year, accounting for 66.04 percent of total export turnover.
