Hoi An Town on the central coast, where Typhoon Xangsane wreaked havoc early this month, is ready to host the 4th APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting on October 12-19, a provincial leader said on Wednesday.
All preparations for the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) meeting have been completed, Tran Minh Ca, vice chairman of the Quang Nam Province People’s Committee, told a press conference in Da Nang City near Hoi An.
He said the two venues for the meeting – Palm Garden Resort and Golden Sand Resort – have finished repairing storm-damaged facilities. Conference halls and hotel rooms are available for 250 delegates. He added almost 80 volunteers are ready to do their jobs.
Hoi An and Da Nang hospitals have geared up for any treatment or emergency case, said Mr. Ca.
Delegates are welcomed at Da Nang International Airport, and the city authority has prepared accommodation for those who want to stay in Da Nang instead of Hoi An Town – a world cultural heritage site.
